CRAFTS

T.A. made a replica of a trash can out of a Country Sampler magazine.  He made it out of cedar and painted only the outside black, so it smells amazing!!  I added the rooster plate that I found at Michael's.  I love it!

Here is the Hard Maple night stand T.A. made to match the bed.  I can't tell you what plan he used because he didn't use any!!

Coffee filter wreath.  It took around 300 filters, but it didn't take long at all!  I stuck the round end of a spatula in the middle of the filter and pressed down to squish it.  I just used straight pins to stick through the middle of the filter and stuck in the foam.  You can still see a bit of green from the foam, so next time I will wrap it in ribbon first!

I didn't have my sewing machine ready yet...so I actually glued these!!

Made from the stuff I already had!!  I printed off pages of backgrounds for the picture and the flower.  The flower is petals cut from paper with a button glued on!!  Super cute!!  I stenciled the words directly on the glass with paint...So easy!  Now, I want to make wreaths out of feather boas!

Here is another project the hubby has already finished.  He used an old door and added crown molding and topped with a satin finish black latex paint.  I think it turned out great and goes with the room perfectly!!

Way to go honey!!  The hubby finished his first project!!  Our queen bed!  It is definitely an attention grabber and quite sturdy, but I told him if he was going to keep making furniture, we were going to need to get a bigger house!!  So proud of him!

Here are a couple pics from a Christmas wreath I made.  Plus the shutter it's hung on is one that I had from an earlier pic.  I cleaned it up and used a crackle paint I had bought in spray cans from Hobby Lobby.

And of course I had to add my Christmas tree!!

So, I took a trip to Hobby Lobby and found that using this backing is way easier than what I was doing.  I am using two squares at a time to pull each end of the material through, but only using every other one.  So, I am using a lot less material and it should take a lot less time.  Gotta learn some how, right?

Putting the rug together was a lot harder than I thought.  I started off with the knotted end and started circling around itself and every couple inches I would knot together with craft string.  (You know, the kind you make the string bracelets out of)  I'm hoping that would last through the washer if it needed it.  But I had to stop there because I ran out of string.  So, I'm hoping to have the finished product up soon :)

"BEFORE" and "IN THE PROCESS" Pictures!!
The starting of my rag rug.  First, start with a long piece of clothesline folded in half and tied at the end.  I then attached it to two chairs across my living room to keep the clothesline straight.  Take the 2" wide by 5" long strips of material, fold in half, then wrap the folded piece around the clothesline and pull the two ends through the loop made to make into a knot.

5"x2" strips

The before picture of some junk I picked up.  I am planning on cleaning and covering with crackle paint and decorations.

Just a few to start out with
